Job Title: Educational Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team at the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board. As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs in our classrooms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist students with special needs in both individual and group settings
  • Act as a liaison between students and teachers
  • Attend meetings and take notes as required
  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons and projects for special needs students
  • Implement Individualized Education Plans for special needs students
  • Observe and report on student behaviour, academic, motor, and social development
  • Assist with behaviour management, including conflict resolution and crisis intervention
  • Support students with feeding, toileting, and personal care needs
  • Maintain routines and rules in the classroom
  • Participate in general school duties, including student supervision
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a post-secondary educational assistant program or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year experience working with children
  • Ability to perform required physical tasks, including toileting and lifting
  • Positive and empathetic attitude towards students
  • Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information
  • Ability to function independently within a team
  • Basic knowledge of computer software
