Job Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Pharmacist in the technical aspects of prescription filling and administrative duties. This position requires a team player who can provide exceptional customer service and participate in all aspects of Pharmacy Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receiving prescriptions from patients, ensuring compliance with provincial legal and regulatory conditions, and assessing prescriptions for completeness.
  • Performing computer functions as directed by the Pharmacist, including data entry, price checks, patient information entry, and competent interpretation and processing of written prescriptions.
  • Filling prescriptions under the supervision of the Pharmacist, selecting appropriate products, and performing accuracy checks.
  • Maintaining inventory control, assisting the Pharmacist in maintaining stock levels, and checking for expired medications.
  • General housekeeping, stocking prescription filling supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Clerical organization, filing prescriptions, invoices, and reports, and completing administrative support functions.
  • Assisting with OTC operations, ordering, stocking, and cashier duties as assigned by the OTC Manager and/or Pharmacist.
