Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, the selected candidate will serve as the key liaison between Design Engineering and Manufacturing. You will be the primary resource for coordinating all product design modifications for the products manufactured at the assembly facility.
This role requires full-time on-site presence.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop concept, design, and production drawings accompanied by supporting calculations and material specifications, ensuring compliance with design requirements and manufacturing capabilities. Create, formulate, and implement comprehensive product-related modifications for existing products in a continuous improvement framework. Enhance warranty performance, simplify assembly processes, and broaden product options for production. Analyze and resolve bill of material (BOM) discrepancies. Maintain comprehensive documentation for all phases of assigned projects. Investigate equipment malfunctions and challenges to diagnose operational issues and propose enhancements. Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to deliver cost-effective solutions to design obstacles. Assist in verifying details, assemblies, and BOMs for assigned projects. Provide mentorship to junior and intermediate Design Engineers. Employ a diverse range of established or modified engineering methods or techniques with a significant degree of autonomy. Perform additional duties as required.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Preference will be given to candidates who are registered or pursuing their professional designation.Preferred Attributes:
At least 5 years of experience as a Mechanical / Electrical designer in a heavy equipment or similar manufacturing environment. Proven expertise in Mechanical design, GD&T, DFMEA, and welding/fabrication processes. Proficient in SolidWorks (formal training preferred); experience with FEA is advantageous. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, GD&T, DFMEA, welding/fabrication techniques, hydraulic controls, and general electrical skills. Excellent communication abilities, capable of collaborating effectively with a cross-functional technical team as well as manufacturing personnel.
