Position Overview

Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Care Aide. Relocation assistance may be available.

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a dedicated Care Aide to become part of the Chronic Complex Care Unit. This role is essential in delivering quality care to our clients.

Responsibilities of a Care Aide at Vancouver Coastal Health include:

Collaborating under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated personnel while working alongside interdisciplinary team members to facilitate client care. Adhering to established care protocols to provide personal assistance; including bathing, grooming, dressing, meal support, and oral hygiene. Responding promptly to call bells and alarms. Monitoring and documenting clients' progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes, reporting significant observations as necessary. Utilizing mechanical aids such as specialty beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers for client transport and providing assistance with lifting and transferring clients according to safety protocols. Ensuring a clean and safe environment for both clients and staff. Performing additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Completion of Grade 10 (including English 10). Successful graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant Program or a comparable combination of education, training, and experience. Eligibility for registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.

Skills & Competencies

Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Capacity to interact with others in a respectful and effective manner. Physical capability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Ability to prioritize and organize tasks efficiently. Proficiency in operating relevant equipment, including Patient Care Information Systems.

Additional Information

Work hours, including days off and work areas, may vary based on operational needs and the provisions of the Collective Agreement. Successful candidates may be required to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
