Senior Project Manager, Rail Signaling and Communications

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to lead our Canadian Signals & Communications team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering complex rail signal projects and contributing to the growth and success of our business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead project pursuits and prepare proposals to secure new business opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure project success and attract new business.
  • Plan and manage each stage of a project to ensure timely and budget-friendly delivery.
  • Identify and allocate necessary resources for project execution, from inception to completion.
  • Develop project scope, identify deliverables, and prepare work plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and change management to ensure project success.
  • Lead project controls staff, project coordinators, and overall project team to achieve project goals.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including clients, project team members, and internal teams.
  • Maintain a good understanding of project scope to identify scope creep and initiate change management processes.
  • Negotiate solutions to ensure client expectations and contractual obligations are met.
  • Ensure timely internal and external communication throughout all project phases.
  • Comply with AECOM's Quality Management System methodology and project management process.
  • Participate in monthly project reviews to review project status, budget, work plan, schedule, and risks.
  • Conduct progress meetings to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns with stakeholders.
  • Ensure all project close-out documents are submitted and forwarded to appropriate parties upon completion.
  • Act as a mentor to junior project management and controls professionals.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (electrical, electronics, software engineering, etc.) + 6 years of relevant experience in project management in rail for signals OR Technical Diploma + 8 years of experience in project management in rail and/or signals.
  • Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 8 years or more of relevant experience in public rail and transit.
  • Professional Engineer designation.
  • PMP certification.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in at least one of the following sub-disciplines: LRT and Freight rail, Signaling & Train Control (CBTC, ATC, ATO, ATP, PTC, fixed block, level-crossings, OCC workstations and software, interface to OCC video wall, and others).
  • Experience in State of Good Repair projects.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects of various types and complexities.
  • Familiarity with other design disciplines typically requiring coordination with Signal design such as Architectural, Structural, Civil, Electrical, System and Mechanical.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and team skills.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Able to multitask due to concurrent projects.
