About the Role

Spark Power Corp is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and stamping electrical engineering packages for construction projects in the utilities, large commercial, and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform power system studies using industry-standard software, including Short-Circuit Analysis, Protective Device Coordination, Arc Flash Studies, Load Flow, and Harmonics studies.
  • Provide arc flash hazard mitigation recommendations to improve equipment and personnel safety.
  • Design and analyze Ground Grid Systems for new construction or substation upgrade projects.
  • Develop protection philosophies and protection system schemes and designs.
  • Interface with clients, owners, consultants, and construction crews, requiring strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Work independently under general direction, progressing to carry out non-routine tasks of substantial variety and complexity.
  • Apply a sound understanding of related electrical principles and practices.
  • Make analysis, decisions, and recommendations for technical problem-solving.
  • Promote quality service to ensure employee, customer, and supplier satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of direct Electrical Power Distribution design and engineering experience, with a preference for industrial facilities.
  • Professional designation.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Renewable, Industrial, and Commercial facilities.
  • Experience designing, developing, and leading different phases of Engineering Projects, from early stages to Detailed Engineering.
  • Experience developing and leading Construction Work Packages.
  • Experience developing and leading Material Requisitions and Technical Bid Evaluations.
  • Experience developing Electrical Area Classification studies, including a thorough understanding of CEC/OESC.
  • Proficiency in various electrical calculations, including Voltage Drop, Cable Sizing/Ampacities, Basic Short Circuit Calcs, Grounding Design, Equipment Sizing Ratings, and Equipment Specification.
  • Proficiency in various electrical software, including CYMCAP, CYMGrd, ETAP, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Drawing Mark-ups.
  • Working knowledge of Computer Aided Design software, such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.
  • Experience in manufacturing facilities will be considered an asset.
