Shift Type: Night, alternate weekends (subject to change)

Hourly Pay Rate: $56.00 Bi-Weekly Hours: 15 Hours

Overview:

The Palliative Care Unit (6 West) is committed to providing comprehensive pain management and emotional support for patients facing late-stage illnesses. Our facility features a 31-bed unit dedicated to both short-term and long-term palliative care needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality clinical assessments and act as a resource for comprehensive client and family-centered healthcare services from admission through discharge.
  • Plan, implement, and assess nursing interventions, including medication administration, within the RN's scope of practice.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team to address the personal care, recreational, and spiritual needs of clients.
  • Engage actively in educational programs for nursing staff and students.

Qualifications:

  • Valid registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario ('CNO') in good standing.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support ('BCLS') certification, Level C - Automated External Device ('AED').
  • BScN is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Standards is an asset.
  • Proven ability to take professional accountability for care coordination and delegation.
  • Previous experience in palliative care is advantageous.
  • Experience in psychogeriatrics, including mental health assessments and interventions, is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications such as Meditech, Microsoft Word, and Excel is preferred.
