Job Title: Senior Project Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the timely and efficient coordination and delivery of transmission and substation projects for major utility clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, escalate, and manage any matters which could pose a potential contractual and, or commercial risk.
  • Set objectives, and define tasks for the project team, delegating authority, and agreeing with the project director how risks will be shared, as necessary.
  • Actively manage the project – both technically and financially, in accordance with corporate and business policies, directives, guidance and procedures. Protecting the commercial interest of the project.
  • Facilitate communication, co-ordination, and information flow with the Client and within the project team, including any subcontractors and partners (internal and external).
  • Facilitate all technical documentation required for the execution of the project (Technical studies, Design basis, Conceptual designs, Detailed designs, technical specifications, Field work, Tender Phase services, Construction Phase Services and Record drawings).
  • Establish and maintain a climate favorable to the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of the engineering work.
  • The successful delivery of the project to agreed targets, e.g., schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Implement rules and procedures to ensure health & safety of employees and the environment as well as prevention of workplace incidents. Furthermore, in a context of continuous improvement, be proactive in identifying and improving health, safety & environment rules and procedures to prevent potential hazards related to your work.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • A project management accreditation (PMP) is an asset.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in project management with experience working within a large design team is an asset.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices and the flow of design in project management.
  • A distinct results-based orientation combined with outstanding communication, interpersonal and team building skills, including knowledge of all project management functions, including design, contracts, procurement of services, and project accounting.
  • Experience in the following is considered a distinct asset, Transmission and Distribution, working with a major utility, working in an EPCM environment.
