Transforming Chemistry for a Sustainable Future

As a critical member of the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) team, this position plays a key role in ensuring the Ottawa site adheres to all applicable water and waste regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide site leadership for assigned regulatory programs in Water, Waste, Land, & Hazardous Materials, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for Environmental compliance issues within manufacturing operations for assigned areas/mediias.
- Collaborate with Regional EHSS to prepare and submit Regulatory Permit applications (NPDES), as well as monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reporting requirements.
- Work with area operations and sustainability leaders to meet environmental requirements and improve operating metrics by reducing emissions and/or energy consumption.
- Implement programs that achieve both regulatory requirements and operational flexibility.
- Key interfaces include working with Regional EHSS, Operations and Maintenance leaders and technicians, project engineers, process control engineers, Safety Environment & Health Technician, and Technology representatives.
- Interact with other sites around the business to translate best practices and with Federal & State agencies to ensure compliance.
Requirements:
- BS degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, and a minimum of 3 years of experience working in EHSS.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to transfer relevant information efficiently and effectively using Microsoft Office applications and other IT applications.
- Ability to collect relevant data, history trends, process information, and study results to evaluate issues.
- Provide technical direction and execution of critical environmental programs.
- Experience with process programs including TRI, Tier II, EPCRA, RC 14001, NPDES, BMP, RCRA, Hazardous Materials, DOT/FRA, EPA, CERCLA, TSCA, CWA, and other standards related to various Federal and State agencies.
- Organizational skills to balance priorities between immediate work and longer-term strategic efforts.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must submit application for employment online to be considered.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work for Sabic Americas, Inc. in the United States on a full-time basis.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk for extended distances, climb stairs & ladders, and lean/kneel to view equipment.
Work Availability:
Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Applicants must be regularly available and willing to work Monday – Friday during assigned hours of operation and such other hours as the company determines are necessary or desirable to meet business needs.
