About the Role

Humans of HR is a boutique recruitment agency in Vancouver, dedicated to providing exceptional hiring and placement services for skilled professionals. We are seeking a Labour Relations Coordinator to play a key role in supporting people leaders with labour relations guidance, performance management, and employee support.

Key Responsibilities

Labour Relations & Performance Management:

  • Provide expert guidance on employee performance management, including drafting letters of expectation, warnings, and terminations.
  • Support managers in the performance review process, offering advice on probationary reviews and delivering constructive feedback.
  • Interpret and advise on collective agreements, labour legislation, and internal policies.
  • Assist in the development and facilitation of training sessions related to labour relations and employee performance.

Investigations:

  • Conduct thorough investigations related to employee concerns, including bullying, harassment, attendance issues, and other misconduct.
  • Prepare detailed investigation reports with findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Present investigation summaries to senior leadership.
  • Draft responses to grievances and other employee-related issues.

Administrative & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate documentation, track inquiries, and manage internal records.
  • Compile and report on key metrics related to labour relations and employee performance.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of training programs for managers and staff.

Training & Development:

  • Collaborate with HR and other stakeholders to develop training initiatives related to labour relations, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Conduct in-person and virtual training sessions with employees and managers.

Requirements:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels.
  • Experience working in unionized environments, with a solid understanding of collective agreements and labour law.
  • Proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and video conferencing tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+, First Nations, new immigrants, and people with disabilities.

Education & Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of HR experience, particularly in a unionized environment.
  • Experience with HRIS systems such as UltiPro (UKG) or similar is an asset.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
