Job Overview:

Part-Time Educator – Computer Systems Technician Program - Introduction to Enterprise Networking

Under the supervision of the Chair, Business Technology and Outdoor Training, the educator is tasked with fostering academic excellence and creating a supportive learning atmosphere for students. The key responsibilities include:

Course Development and Management:

  • Collaborating with program and course administrators, fellow faculty, advisory committees, and various stakeholders.
  • Establishing and assessing learning outcomes.
  • Defining and approving instructional methodologies and necessary resources.
  • Integrating modern educational technologies to cater to contemporary student needs.
  • Reviewing and updating curricula while engaging in professional development during non-teaching periods.

Instructional Responsibilities:

  • Delivering scheduled instruction across various academic terms.
  • Ensuring students are informed about course objectives and assessment methods.
  • Providing academic support and guidance to students both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Creating a resource-rich learning environment utilizing educational technologies.
  • Assessing student performance and taking responsibility for the overall evaluation of student work.
  • Fostering an inclusive learning environment that promotes success for all students.

Academic Leadership:

  • Offering guidance to students and colleagues regarding teaching assignments.
  • Participating in curriculum development and departmental meetings.
  • Engaging with community members and promoting departmental initiatives.
  • Staying informed about advancements in the field and emerging educational practices.
  • Exemplifying the values of the institution – Caring, Learning, Integrity, and Respect.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a three-year advanced diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems/IT, or a related discipline; a Bachelor's or Graduate Degree is advantageous.
  • At least five years of relevant technical experience in computer systems technology and support.
  • Proven knowledge of strategies that promote student success in a postsecondary environment.
  • Experience with educational technologies.
  • Expertise in network scalability, dynamic routing protocols, and network security practices.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCAI are considered assets.
  • Commitment to the success of all learners.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in teaching competencies as outlined in the Professor of the 21st Century document.
