Your Role:

Alberta Health Services is dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare services across the province. The Pharmacy department plays a crucial role in ensuring that patients receive the best possible care. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will work under the guidance of the Pharmacy Operations Manager, engaging in a variety of tasks that support the overall pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management of medication inventory and ensure that stock levels are maintained.
  • Support the receiving and unpacking of pharmaceutical orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Participate in the packaging and distribution of medications to various departments and clinics.
  • Handle narcotic management and adhere to all safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Operations Manager.

Position Overview:

In the role of Pharmacy Assistant, you will be integral to the medication supply chain, facilitating the shipping, packaging, and distribution of pharmaceuticals. You will collaborate closely with Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians to ensure that all operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Qualifications:

A minimum of Grade 12 education or equivalent is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with a background in a recognized pharmacy assistant program or those with recent experience in retail or hospital pharmacy settings are preferred. Familiarity with Windows-based applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel, is advantageous. Experience with portering, Pyxis systems, Epic software, and barcoding medications will be considered an asset.
