Senior Payroll Specialist

Clios Payroll and Benefits team is seeking a highly organized and solution-oriented Senior Payroll Specialist to join our high-performing team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulations across geographies and providing thought leadership and mentorship to our Payroll Clerks.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the administration of payroll for all company employees and execute payroll reconciliation reports and schedules in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain the payroll records in our HRIS system and make recommendations to improve the scalability and efficiency of internal payroll.
- Assist in answering Benefit questions about extended Health and Dental plans with a good understanding of our benefit processes.
- Reconcile payroll and manage the flow of information to the general ledger to ensure costs are allocated to the correct account and cost center.
- Prepare provincial and federal reporting and remittances, including WCB, WSIB, EHT, ROEs, and tax form preparation.
- Prepare year-end reconciliations and tax form preparation, including T4s, T4As, W2, Form 2220s, WCB, WSIB, EHT, and other external payroll and tax audits.
- Review information for new hires, resignations, and terminations and ensure it is correct.
- Create and maintain operating manuals for all payroll and insurance processes.
- Assist with documentation and updating Standard Operating Procedures.
- At least 3-5 years of Payroll experience.
- Knowledge of existing and research new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel and the use of formulas.
- Ability to teach and knowledge transfer with junior payroll clerks.
- Reliable source of knowledge and a resource for our employees and junior members of the team.
