The Department of Physics at the University of Toronto invites applications for a Research Associate to join our experimental high energy physics group. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major participant in the Phase II upgrade of the central tracker to a tracking system, the ITk.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Associate to manage the production and quality assurance of modules in Toronto and at Celestica Inc. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the production, installation, and commissioning of the ITk, scheduled to be completed in 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the production and quality assurance of ITk modules
  • Lead the installation and commissioning of the ITk
  • Collaborate with international researchers and manage a team of researchers, graduate students, and undergraduate students
  • Develop and implement project management and database management tools

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in particle physics or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in project management, assembly, and testing of microelectronics systems or silicon tracking detectors
  • Excellent project management and database management skills
