Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Power Engineer Supervisor to join our team at Providence Health Care. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for supervising power engineers and other designated staff, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our hospital's mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Leadership
    • Supervise and coordinate the work of power engineers and other designated staff.
    • Evaluate employee performance and provide guidance and training as needed.
  • Maintenance and Operations
    • Perform preventative maintenance, construction, and alterations of heating, plumbing, ventilation, air conditioning, gas, compressed air, medical gases, and other mechanical systems throughout the hospital.
    • Operate and maintain heating and air conditioning systems, including starting up and shutting down related pumps, fans, air compressors, and pneumatic systems.
  • Compliance and Safety
    • Ensure compliance with various codes and regulations related to power engineering and/or safety policies and procedures.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and provide guidance to staff on safety procedures and protocols.
  • Reporting and Record-Keeping
    • Prepare and maintain accurate records of work performed, including operating inefficiencies, equipment breakdowns, and safety hazards.
    • Provide regular reports to the Chief Engineer on the status of mechanical systems and any issues or concerns.
Requirements
  • Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of British Columbia.
  • Five years' recent, related experience, including two years in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to supervise.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
