Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced French Immersion Teacher to join our team at Yellowknife Catholic Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching French Language Arts and Social Studies to students in grades 8-12.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach French Language Arts and Social Studies to students in grades 8-12
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and deliver programs and services
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Education Degree (specialization in French Immersion preferred)
  • NWT Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certification
  • Must be bilingual (French/English)
  • Knowledge of second language methodology and technology integration
  • Experience teaching in a northern community and understanding of Indigenous cultures an asset
