Job Title: Fire Protection Consultant

Jensen Hughes is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fire Protection Consultant to join our team in Burnaby, BC or Calgary, AB. As a Fire Protection Consultant, you will be responsible for managing and implementing a wide variety of engineering design and consulting projects, including building code consulting, fire protection systems, and fire protection strategies.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct building and fire code reviews and analyses, including plan reviews and site visits.
  • Develop fire protection strategies, performance-based design approaches, and alternative solutions to resolve client design issues.
  • Prepare and peer review of project-related technical reports.
  • Effectively communicate with project team members, clients, and others.
  • Assist with business development activities.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in code consulting, design of fire suppression and alarm systems, and developing performance-based strategies in a project design environment is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or other professional designation is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Experience in developing building code concepts and equivalencies, conducting building plan reviews, and conducting field reviews/inspections.
  • Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies.
  • Ability to work well independently and to interact with other industry professionals, associated trades, and jurisdictional authorities.
