Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Psychiatric Liaison Nurse to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will play a vital role in providing person-centered and recovery-oriented care to patients with mental health and substance use needs in the Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform psychosocial assessments and develop care plans for patients with mental health and substance use needs.
  • Collaborate with Emergency Department staff, psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient flow and timely admission to psychiatric services.
  • Provide crisis intervention, counseling, and education to patients and their families/caregivers.
  • Document assessments, care plans, and patient outcomes according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
  • Liaise with community mental health teams and other service providers to ensure seamless transitions of care.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing plus current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • One (1) year recent related experience in an acute or community Mental Health & Substance Use setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with patients, families/caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to promote person-centered care and demonstrate empathy, sensitivity, and advocacy for special populations.
