We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician/ Sample Logistics Trainee to join our team at Bureau Veritas Laboratories. As a Laboratory Technician/ Sample Logistics Trainee, you will play a critical role in supporting our laboratory operations and ensuring the highest quality of service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:- Adhere to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy and support all policies, Quality System, and Health & Safety programs.
- Perform sample preparation and procedures related to microbial analyses of food samples and provide general lab support.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) when conducting any laboratory work or procedure.
- Ensure a high level of accuracy in sample preparation and analysis.
- Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize the risk of mislabeling, sample mix-up, and cross-contamination between samples and other materials.
- Unpack food samples (breads, meats, cheeses) from coolers and organize them according to requirements.
- Confirm that the samples received match the documentation.
- Identify and report all concerns with submissions, such as missing samples and the condition of samples.
- Escalate issues to senior staff as needed.
- Create, organize, and manage paperwork.
- Input all information into a computerized system (data entry).
- Sort and distribute all samples appropriately, which will be sent to other departments for testing.
- Work closely with other team members and supervisory staff to report and resolve issues.
- Strict adherence to policies, procedures, work instructions, other documents, and requirements.
- Create and maintain a clean, sanitary, neat/tidy, safe/secure working environment.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.
- Maintains training records and relevant qualifications.
- Meets quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensures samples are analyzed within holding time requirements.
- Keeps work area clean, neat, and organized according to good housekeeping procedures.
- Possess a post-secondary education and/or equivalent related work experience in an analytical laboratory.
- Must be able to distinguish between different color reactions.
- Must be able to handle all kinds of food samples, including (but not limited to) peanuts/nuts, raw meat, seafood, beer/wine, soy, dairy, and wheat.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Dynamic, energetic, motivated with a positive outlook and 'can-do' attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good record-keeping skills and attention to detail.
- Organized with a professional attitude.
- Some lifting required (up to 40 lbs).
- Detail-oriented and record-keeping skills.
