About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at Dawson Group. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our heavy-duty equipment fleet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform accurate and complete vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, prioritizing a safe working environment and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Liaise with management to ensure smooth communication and coordination during repairs or maintenance work.
  • Strive to exceed industry standards by providing high-quality workmanship and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Perform daily bay inspections to ensure shop neatness and safety, and work closely with the team to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Effectively work in all weather conditions and have the flexibility to work shift work if necessary.
Requirements
  • 3rd or 4th year apprentice in Heavy Duty or Commercial Transport Mechanic.
  • Journeyman Certificate is an asset.
  • Experience and/or certification in Automotive Mechanic is an asset.
  • Preferably Grade 12 education; and up-to-date technical knowledge acquired through trade-related courses since achieving TQ certification.
  • B.C Driver's License, minimum Class 5. Class 3 with Air is an asset.
  • CVIP Inspection license is preferred, or willingness to acquire.
  • Welding experience is an asset.
  • Capable of performing heavy physical duties.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prioritizes safety of self and team.
