Data Analytics Manager

BC Cancer is seeking a highly skilled Data Analytics Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing expertise and leadership in a diverse array of analytics functions, including client consultation, data collection, data integration, data analysis, interpretation, and visualization of data.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide supervision, leadership, and guidance to team members of the data and analytics team by establishing team priorities and ensuring prompt and accurate completion of operational activities.
- Evaluate individual and team performance against targets, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to improve.
- Consult with BC Cancer programs as required, identify and respond to customer needs for analytic products and services, and mobilize team members to meet customer needs and assign necessary resources as required.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and availability of data and analytic products produced by the team for BC Cancer decision-making.
- Maintain department standards and procedures as required, including policies for ensuring appropriate access to and sharing of sensitive health data.
- Develop, recommend, and monitor departmental expenditures within an agreed budget.
- Communicate analytical results and provide reports, presentations, and summaries as needed to stakeholders and applicable external partners.
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Operations Research, or a similar field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years recent related experience in analytics and/or the health information field in a large, complex organization, including a minimum of three (3) years in a supervisory role.
- Leadership and managerial skills in a diverse environment.
- Ability to respond to the needs of stakeholders supported by an acute awareness of the impact of action.
- Demonstrate ability to problem-solve with a global perspective in order to incorporate the organization's systems and strategies when developing viable solutions to problems.
- Ability to establish courses of action for self and others that are results-oriented.
- Project management experience with multi-faceted projects and stringent timelines.
- Advanced knowledge of data analytic techniques with the ability to mentor team members on complex analytic problems.
- Strong knowledge of industry-standard analytic and statistical software (R, SAS), data visualization and BI tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Shiny), relational database tools (MySQL, SSiS), and other computing and data capture solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and system analysis skills, including the ability to comprehend complex issues and related data/information.
- Ability to function in a self-directed manner, handle multiple concurrent tasks.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills to support working with and supervising a variety of people.
- Demonstrate skill as a leader, coach, and change agent.
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
- Support team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
- Work collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
- Have commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

$106,026 - $152,413. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate's relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part-time roles.
Location:Provincial Position and the candidate must be within the vicinity of a regional BC Cancer Centre to work.
