Job Overview:
Part-Time Educator – Computer Systems Technician Program - Introduction to Enterprise Networking
Under the guidance of the Chair, Business Technology and Outdoor Training, the role of the Educator encompasses the provision of academic leadership and the creation of a productive learning atmosphere for students. Key responsibilities include:
Course Development:
- Collaborating with program administrators, fellow faculty, advisory committees, and potential employers to design, revise, and update course content.
- Establishing and assessing learning outcomes.
- Determining and approving instructional methods and necessary resources.
- Integrating educational technologies to cater to the learning needs of contemporary students.
- Participating in professional development activities during non-teaching periods.
Instructional Duties:
- Delivering scheduled classes during the academic terms.
- Ensuring students are aware of course objectives and assessment methods.
- Providing academic support and guidance to students both in and out of the classroom.
- Creating a learning environment that effectively utilizes available resources, including educational technologies.
- Assessing student performance and taking responsibility for overall evaluation within assigned courses.
- Fostering a supportive learning environment conducive to student success.
Academic Leadership:
- Offering guidance to students and colleagues regarding teaching assignments.
- Engaging in curriculum development and departmental meetings.
- Building relationships with community members and promoting programs within the department and college.
- Staying informed about advancements in the field and emerging educational practices.
- Exemplifying the college's core values: Caring, Learning, Integrity, and Respect.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a three-year advanced diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems/IT, or a related discipline; a Bachelor's or Graduate Degree is advantageous.
- At least five years of relevant technical experience in computer systems technology and support.
- Proven knowledge of strategies that enhance student success in a postsecondary environment.
- Experience with educational technologies.
- Familiarity with network scalability, dynamic routing protocols, and network security practices.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCAI are considered assets.
- Commitment to fostering the success of all learners.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the teaching competencies outlined in the Professor of the 21st Century document.
