We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Youth Care Specialist to join our team at Equest. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing care, support, and guidance to children and youth with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Support and Care: Offer emotional and physical support to children and youth, creating a safe and nurturing environment that promotes their well-being and development.
- Develop and Implement Activity Plans: Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement engaging activity plans that encourage participation and promote social skills.
- Collaborate with Clinical Professionals: Work closely with clinical professionals and unit managers to share insights and contribute to treatment plans and goal setting.
- Teach Essential Life Skills: Teach children and youth essential life skills such as self-care, cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and building positive social connections.
- Resolve Conflicts and Manage Behavior: Use behavior management strategies such as conflict resolution, crisis management, and life space interviewing to guide children and youth through challenges.
- Document and Report: Complete documentation and reports with accuracy and clarity, ensuring all agency standards are met.
- Education and Experience: Completion of a high school diploma and at least one year of experience working with children, youth, and/or adults with behavioral, cognitive, mental health, or developmental challenges.
- Skills and Characteristics: Strong interpersonal skills, leadership, emotional intelligence, problem-solving skills, knowledge of behavior management and support strategies, and a flexible mindset.
- Additional Requirements: Completion of all mandatory training requirements, a class five (5) novice two (2) or higher driver's license, and eligibility for coverage under our commercial auto insurance policy.
