This role is ideal for someone enthusiastic about shaping the future of Delta in response to evolving provincial legislation.

As part of the Community Planning team, a dedicated group of policy planners within the Development Department, you will lead significant community planning projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Updating the Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw
  • Developing policies and initiatives aligned with Provincial legislation and Council priorities
  • Leading or supporting funding applications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A degree in a relevant field, preferably a postgraduate degree in Planning
  • Comprehensive understanding of land use planning principles and policy development techniques
  • Extensive experience in researching, developing, and implementing policies, plans, and bylaws
  • Proven project management skills, including supervising staff and coordinating teams
  • Excellent communication abilities, particularly in public engagement and consultation
  • Familiarity with regulations, policies, and legislation related to land use planning in British Columbia
  • Experience with the Local Government Act, Community Charter, and related policies
  • Knowledge of the Agricultural Land Commission Act and related regulations
  • Background in community planning, land use, or development within a local government context

Work assignments will be tailored to your expertise and departmental needs, potentially covering areas such as agriculture, housing, heritage, environmental, and land use planning.

Membership or eligibility for membership in the Planning Institute of BC and the Canadian Institute of Planners is required. A valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence is also necessary.
