The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (OFAH) is actively seeking an Accounting Manager. This role will collaborate closely with all OFAH personnel, under the guidance of the Director of Finance. The successful candidate will oversee the daily functions of the accounting team, which includes managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, monthly account reconciliations, audit preparations, and generating reports based on data analysis. This position supervises the Accounting Services Representative and Accounting Clerk.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Direct the daily operations of the accounting department through effective supervision, review, training, and task delegation.
  2. Mentor and lead the accounting team, conducting annual performance evaluations for direct reports.
  3. Compile monthly financial statements and analyze the general ledger for variances and discrepancies.
  4. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax legislation in daily operations.
  5. Coordinate and manage activities necessary for annual audits by facilitating information requests from auditors.
  6. Lead the collection and organization of required information for the annual budgeting process.
  7. Administer and process bi-weekly payroll for full-time employees and complete Records of Employment as necessary.
  8. Review bi-weekly payroll for part-time and contract staff prior to submission.
  9. Guarantee that all internal reporting is accurate, complete, and disseminated to staff promptly, assisting them in understanding budgets and variances.
  10. Support activities related to bank accounts, including authorizing fund transfers and electronic payments.
  11. Review coding for payables before processing in the system.
  12. Oversee the reconciliation of monthly accounts and perform reconciliations as required.
  13. Assist in monitoring accounting software to ensure optimal functionality and investigate enhancements to improve the integrity of accounting systems.

Education and Qualifications:

  1. Post-secondary education in finance, business, commerce, or accounting, or equivalent work-related experience.
  2. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in accounting and financial analysis.
  3. Accounting designation (CA/CPA) is an asset.
  4. Familiarity with Accounting Principles for Charities and Nonprofit Organizations.

Required Skills and Experience:

  1. Proficient computer skills (MS Excel, MS Office, accounting software, AMS solutions).
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  3. Proven managerial experience and leadership capabilities.
  4. Strong interpersonal skills.
  5. Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  6. Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Experience in budget management.
  8. Ability to multitask and maintain organization in a dynamic environment.
  9. Confidentiality is essential.
