STEM Innovation Academy is a public charter school authority located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We are seeking a principal for our new junior high location that will be opening in the near future. This 7-9 school community will serve a student population of approximately 300 students.
We embody a vision for education that inspires students to be technology creators and innovators, not just technology users. Our unique and locally developed STEM program will enable us to fulfill our vision and be the premier learning community for the design and advancement of innovative Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education.
The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented senior leader with demonstrated success of achieving excellence. The successful candidate will provide evidence of:
- Effective instructional leadership and staff development through collaborative structures that result in excellence in teaching and learning.
- Supporting a comprehensive repertoire of excellence in planning, instruction, and assessment practices to meet the learning needs of every student.
- Engaging industry and community partners to support the STEM IA charter goals.
- Establishing a safe, caring, and inclusive environment where diversity is respected, and all members of the school community are welcomed.
- Engaging with all partners to establish clear goals and set direction.
- Maintaining high expectations for self, staff, and students through caring, respectful, consistent, and proactive approaches.
- Facilitating the development of leadership capacity in others.
- Effective solution-focused problem solving and decision making to make the most of school resources.
- Establishing effective home/school communication plans that effectively report progress of student learning and achievement to parents.
The ideal candidate will be a confident and positive person who is a role model dedicated to a culture of excellence through attainable expectations of self and others. They will be a trusting, respectful, and supportive relationship builder who acts with fairness, respect, and integrity. They will be motivating, energetic, visible, and approachable in fostering positive effective relationships with members of the school community.
Alberta leadership certification and previous experience as a school-based leader are essential requirements for this challenging and rewarding position.
