Role Overview

The Vice President within Teneo's Strategic Communications team plays a pivotal role in our client account teams. This position entails executing comprehensive, integrated communication strategies and initiatives tailored to support Teneo's clients. Responsibilities may include corporate communications, investor relations, executive positioning, media relations strategies, and managing issues and crises. Vice Presidents are dynamic, entrepreneurial thinkers who excel in navigating complex scenarios and ambiguous tasks. They are essential in ensuring our team delivers exceptional service and operates cohesively.

This role is based in Calgary, with an expectation of in-office presence at least three days a week.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Calgary-based client accounts while also supporting client initiatives in other regions.
  • Prepare high-quality written materials for clients, including strategic plans, press releases, talking points, Q&As, briefing documents, and media materials; oversee messaging and coordinate client program activities.
  • Act as a dependable and adaptable resource for senior team members, capable of supervising others.
  • Engage in business development efforts, including proposal creation and participation in pitches.
  • Support operational needs within the office, including assisting with marketing events and business development activities.


Required Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, media relations, or investor relations.
  • Proven track record in managing client relationships effectively.
  • Experience in leading large teams, with a focus on mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong organizational abilities with a demonstrated capacity to execute complex projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of the media landscape and a history of engaging with journalists.
  • Experience in managing issues and crises, as well as handling complex or sensitive projects.
  • Solid understanding of business and capital markets.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in delivering presentations using PowerPoint is essential.
  • Adept at navigating complex or ambiguous environments.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and media monitoring tools.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
