Position Overview:

The CDL Operator at Cedar Bus Company LLC is tasked with the essential duty of safely transporting clients from designated pickup locations to their intended destinations. This role demands a commitment to timely and secure transit, ensuring that all operations adhere to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections and post-route checks to maintain vehicle safety.
  • Ensure compliance with all transportation and workplace safety policies as mandated by company and regulatory standards.
  • Safely transport clients during scheduled morning and afternoon shifts, with potential for weekend assignments based on service demands.
  • Maintain effective communication with dispatch and program personnel, providing updates on route status and any emerging issues.
  • Assist clients, including those with mobility challenges, ensuring their safety and comfort during transit.
  • Regularly clean and maintain the vehicle, ensuring it is fueled and in optimal condition for operation.
  • Participate in ongoing safety training and adhere to all company policies.

Working Conditions:

Drivers can expect to spend the majority of their work hours on the road, with additional time allocated for training and vehicle maintenance. Flexibility in driving various routes and vehicles may be required.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid NYS CDL Class 'C' license with passenger endorsement.
  • Minimum age of 21 years and possession of a valid DOT medical card.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist clients as necessary.
  • Demonstrated empathy and professionalism in client interactions.
  • Willingness to undergo drug testing and background checks.

Preferred Experience:

  • Background in the transportation industry or related fields.
  • Familiarity with transportation logistics or navigation tools.
  • Experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • First aid certification is advantageous.
