Lead Mechanical Design Engineer in R&D

- Advise on material selection, mechanical interactions, and system mechanisms
- Transform new concepts from initial design stages to successful product launches
- Research, develop, design, and assess mechanical and electro-mechanical materials, components, assemblies, processes, or equipment
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) across multiple projects, offering a comprehensive perspective on mechanical design considerations
- Collaborate with product design teams to identify, brainstorm, prototype, and validate the feasibility of concepts
- Engage with product teams and external suppliers to produce functional prototypes and finalize components
- Demonstrate expertise in 3D design tools such as SolidWorks and communicate technical information effectively through drawings and presentations
- Create advanced CAD models utilizing SolidWorks tools
- Employ CAD Database Management tools to oversee drawings, parts, assembly revisions, and properties
- Assist in documenting components, assemblies, and testing methodologies
- Mentor junior engineers in developing testing methods, concepts, and designs
- Conduct feasibility studies to confirm functionality and capability
- Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the research and development phases
- Support the professional growth of engineers, providing design guidance and contributing to the development of the intellectual property (IP) portfolio
- Perform additional duties as required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline
- At least 12 years of experience with CAD software, particularly SolidWorks
- Strong mechanical engineering expertise, particularly in molds, assemblies, surface modeling, industrial design, and plastic design using CAD tools
- Experience in designing molded parts, mold design, and drafting
- Ability to provide technical leadership in product design
- Proficient in drawing conclusions and making recommendations based on diverse technical inputs
- Experience in leading rapid design iterations, testing, and providing design recommendations
- Capable of independently developing and adjusting work plans in response to evolving project objectives
- Self-motivated with a practical approach
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration abilities
- Strong documentation skills, including 2D drawings
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and product quality in all professional activities
- Knowledge of geometrical tolerancing and thermal analysis
- Experience with catheter devices or platform development
- Genuine interest in biomedical technology
- Background in thermodynamics and flow analysis
- Experience with mechatronics, motors, gears, or motor control applications
