Site Overview:

Joseph Brant Hospital is the sole acute care facility in Burlington, renowned for its commitment to patient-centered care and organizational values encapsulated in the CARE Commitment. The hospital offers a wide array of primary and specialized clinical services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct proactive and reactive security patrols and respond to incidents during assigned shifts.
  • Exhibit exceptional customer service skills while assisting individuals in distress or requiring medical aid.
  • Maintain physical fitness to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Perform various preventative and responsive duties, including interior and exterior patrols of the hospital and surrounding areas.
  • Implement Use of Force/Restraint as necessary and directed under applicable legislation.
  • Provide escort services for staff and visitors upon request.
  • Assist staff and visitors with motor vehicle needs as required.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all shift activities and service calls.
  • Prepare detailed reports following investigations or notable incidents in a timely manner.
  • Investigate incidents, manage report writing, and review CCTV footage as needed.
  • Address rule violations by warning individuals and, if necessary, apprehending or removing violators from the premises.
  • Oversee various administrative tasks, including ID badge issuance, key distribution, and lost and found management.
Qualifications:
  1. Possession of a valid Ontario Security Guard License.
  2. Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  3. Current First Aid and CPR Level C Certification.
  4. Immunization documentation (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and TB skin tests).
  5. Proof of double Covid Vaccination.
  6. Educational background in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services is advantageous.
  7. Ability to provide certifications in Use of Force (UoF) and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (MOAB).
    • Applicants without these certifications may enroll in Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding to meet position requirements.
    • Please note: The UoF/MOAB training is unpaid as it is a prerequisite, but Paladin will cover all associated costs with a commitment to the position.
