Position Overview

Clinical Nurse Specialist, Maternity Care
In this role, you will deliver outstanding patient and family-centered care in a supportive and culturally aware environment. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, focusing on assessment, education, prevention, and the maintenance of patient health. Your ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and patients alike will be essential. You possess excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to connect effortlessly with physicians, staff, patients, and families. Your clinical expertise, particularly in caring for the geriatric population, will be invaluable. Additionally, you will demonstrate strong organizational, problem-solving, prioritization, time management, and teaching abilities. This position supports our academic mission by advancing care through education and research initiatives.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Functioning within the full scope of nursing practice as per the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare team members.
  • Applying critical thinking to prioritize and organize work based on patient needs.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of safe transfer and lift techniques.
  • Committing to ongoing professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Taking on leadership roles and showing self-motivation in continuing education related to patient assessment and education.
  • Fostering positive public relations and collaborative relationships in a family-centered care environment.
  • Performing effectively in emergency situations.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Nursing or Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification.
  • Recent completion of a breastfeeding course.
  • Fetal Health Surveillance certification is preferred.
  • Perinatal Certificate is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in Labour & Delivery is preferred.
  • Operating Room experience is preferred.
  • Bilingualism in French/English is an asset.
