Job Title: Scheduler - Temp Full Time

As a key member of the Planning and Environment Services team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Edmonton's growth and development. Reporting to the Senior Planner, Urban Growth, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that drive the city's growth in all aspects - physical, social, economic, and environmental.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the growth management program by advancing and integrating initiatives to support priority growth areas, conducting analysis of market housing affordability, and contributing to infrastructure planning and investment.
  • Collaborate with technical resources and subject matter experts to develop strategies and solutions to advance the growth management program.
  • Apply sophisticated understanding of urban and regional planning to complex policy issues and identify solutions in support of evidence-based decision making.
  • Identify and test planning and growth management related risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare and revise business cases and project charters to advance the work of the growth management program.
  • Provide support in defining and communicating Edmonton's growth management program to Council, Committees, senior management, other departments, and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Urban and/or Regional Planning or a closely related discipline.
  • ~4 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal, intermunicipal and/or regional planning, civic infrastructure planning, and municipal finance.
  • Knowledge and experience is required with respect at least two of the following: strategic policy development, land development policy and process, municipal finance, and civic infrastructure planning.
Asset:
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners is an asset.

This is a temporary full-time position for up to 11 months. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team driving the creation and execution of complex policies, programs, and projects.
