BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) is seeking a Project Coordinator, Indigenous Health.

Role Overview

In alignment with the Mission, Vision, and Values of BC Emergency Health Services, patient safety is paramount and a collective responsibility. Continuous enhancement of quality and safety is integral to all facets of this role.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Indigenous Health, the Project Coordinator is tasked with identifying and prioritizing initiatives, overseeing projects related to the Community Paramedicine agenda, which encompasses knowledge exchange, information dissemination, and educational outreach for both internal and external stakeholders. The Project Coordinator plays a vital role in the planning, development, execution, and assessment of these projects, maintaining primary responsibility for project coordination. This role supports collaborative efforts with internal, external, and provincial partners to enhance the quality and accessibility of health services and related research and knowledge exchange activities. The Coordinator manages a variety of projects of differing sizes and complexities within a dynamic multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee project execution, ensuring efficiency, adherence to protocols, compliance with institutional and ethical policies, and completion within designated timelines. This may involve supervising staff or students involved in larger or more complex projects. Gather, analyze, and interpret relevant data pertaining to ongoing projects, providing insights and recommendations to the Executive Director and project/program teams for development, implementation, analysis, dissemination of findings, and implications for policy and practice. Facilitate the dissemination of information and knowledge concerning projects and key initiatives through various channels to internal and external stakeholders. Actively support the management and facilitation of time-sensitive projects and programs aimed at identifying best practice strategies for health professionals related to Community Paramedicine quality initiatives. Collaborate with Quality Leaders and/or Clinical Leads to coordinate the implementation of approved recommendations arising from research, best practices, and policy evaluations. Assist with evaluative and special projects within the Department; liaise with external partners; develop evaluative surveys using web-based tools; support special initiatives and assist Project Directors.

Qualifications

A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of recent related experience or equivalent work-related experience in health, social services, government, or community organizations.

Skills & Knowledge

Familiarity with research, quality improvement, and clinical practices relevant to the service/program area; health systems and policy; and knowledge exchange. Proficiency in project coordination/management, research, and evaluation. Advanced skills in relevant software applications, including desktop publishing, web content management, and accreditation portal software; adept at internet navigation and funding application processes; training and education; policy review and analysis; and community development. Experience in conducting literature searches, best practice reviews, policy analysis, and collaborating with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups. Attributes such as creativity, sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; strong negotiation, conflict management, and consensus-building skills; excellent oral and written communication abilities.

Indigenous Cultural Safety and Diversity

Knowledge of the impacts of Canadian colonialism on Indigenous peoples in social and health contexts, along with a strong understanding of Indigenous cultural safety, cultural humility, and anti-racism. Commitment to understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, and related justice calls, and their implications within the healthcare system. Support team members in their educational journey, ensuring strategies for implementing Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level. Collaborate with Indigenous teams/departments to ensure a holistic application of the Indigenous Cultural Safety lens. Dedication to fostering meaningful reconciliation in Canada, in accordance with the TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act. Awareness of the social, economic, political, and historical realities affecting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism frameworks.

Salary Range: $62,239 - $89,469

Typical Hiring Range: $62,239 - $73,909

The starting salary for this position will be determined based on the successful candidate's relevant education and experience, in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan.
