Become our next Geoscience Technician

Your Work Environment at EXP

EXP is actively seeking a Geoscience Technician to join the Hydrogeology-Environmental Team within our Geoscience Group in London, Ontario. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented self-starter with 2 to 4 years of experience in hydrogeological fieldwork and environmental consulting. Reporting to the group manager, this individual will handle a wide array of responsibilities.

What a Day at EXP Looks Like

  • Conduct comprehensive hydrogeological fieldwork, including monitoring well installations, well development and testing, groundwater and surface water quality sampling, infiltration testing, and surveying.
  • Oversee drilling operations and associated monitoring well installations, including detailed borehole and monitoring well field logs.
  • Program data loggers for installation in monitoring wells and surface water bodies.
  • Execute shallow groundwater piezometer and staff gauge installations for ongoing monitoring initiatives.
  • Perform in situ infiltration testing using various equipment, such as a Guelph Permeameter.
  • Demonstrate the ability to traverse long distances across extensive properties to complete monitoring programs and installations.
  • Organize and compile analytical data.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients and fellow team members.

Your Experience Should Include

  • A university degree or college diploma in a relevant field such as Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science/Technology, Hydrogeology, or Geoscience.
  • 2 to 4 years of progressive experience in the environmental consulting sector is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Word and data management in MS Excel, are considered an asset.
  • Effective writing and communication abilities.
  • A valid driver's G license and access to a vehicle are necessary, as this role will involve field visits.
  • Comfortable working outdoors independently.
  • Ability to work autonomously in the field based on verbal or written project briefings.
  • Strong note-taking and organizational skills.
  • Experience in hydrogeological field data collection is advantageous.
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and propose innovative solutions.
