Support Worker Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to provide personalized support to individuals who are deafblind, enabling them to live independently and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide holistic support to individuals, tailoring services to meet their unique needs, communication methods, and goals.
  • Advocate on behalf of individuals, ensuring their needs and goals are met.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with colleagues, family members, and the community.
  • Use various communication methods to facilitate information exchange, including ASL, SEE, and LSQ.
  • Follow medical treatment plans and complete required documentation.
  • Assist individuals in realizing their potential, embodying the philosophy of 'do with not for'.
  • Prepare and assist with meal preparation, ensuring healthy food choices.
  • Implement behavioral strategies, tracking and reporting progress.
  • Provide personal care as required, including lifts and transfers, toileting, and personal hygiene.
  • Assist individuals with managing personal finances, budgeting, and maintaining financial records.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1-year post-secondary education.
  • Up to one year of related work experience.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and professional development.
