Position Overview

In this role, reporting to the Estimating Team Leader, you will play a key role in supporting and leading multiple project pursuits within our Nova Scotia operations. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in Lump Sum, Construction Management, and Design Build contracts, as this expertise will enhance our project pursuits.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Define and develop the project scope of work to facilitate subcontractor engagement.
  2. Establish and finalize estimates using the company’s standard estimating software.
  3. Create preliminary construction schedules based on input from subcontractors.
  4. Conduct estimate quantification and draft cost analysis for labor, equipment, and materials.
  5. Identify and outline constructability requirements for project execution.
  6. Evaluate design criteria and recommend optimal solutions based on cost, engineering quality, and material availability.
  7. Recognize and propose strategies for project risk and cost mitigation, as well as opportunities for cost savings.
  8. Assess and suggest potential strategies, advantages, or innovations that could enhance our competitive bidding position.
  9. Review subcontractor bids for completeness and ensure all aspects of the work are covered.
  10. Participate in or lead the bid closing process under the guidance of a senior estimator.
  11. Compile conceptual and budget costs utilizing historical project analytics and benchmarking.
  12. Oversee a small team of support estimators and operational staff, managing their time and ensuring quality of work.
  13. Foster and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders that align with our core values.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Completion of a degree or diploma in a construction-related field.
  2. A minimum of 7 years of experience in construction, encompassing both fieldwork and estimating, is advantageous.
  3. Familiarity with MS Excel, Primavera, On-screen Takeoff, and Bluebeam is beneficial.
