WSP is excited to announce an opening for a Senior Geomorphologist within our Environmental Management division. In this pivotal role, you will deliver geoscience insights on a variety of interdisciplinary civil, geotechnical, and mining initiatives across Canada and beyond.
Your responsibilities will encompass leading project teams, mentoring junior professionals, and offering expertise in planning, nature-based design, geohazards, climate adaptation, and construction for water resources, civil engineering, and environmental projects across various sectors. Your responsibilities will include:
- Engaging in a range of environmental, geoscience, and engineering projects from initial proposals through to planning, design, and execution.
- Leading or managing multidisciplinary project teams, collaborating effectively with engineers, scientists, and stakeholders, while maintaining clear communication with clients.
- Conducting sedimentological assessments, including sediment yield, transport, and fate studies.
- Performing hydrological evaluations, including flood and drought assessments, sustainability analyses, and water management studies.
- Executing geomorphic evaluations such as channel stability, erosion assessments, terrain mapping, and landform analysis.
- Providing geoscience evaluations to support the design and assessment of surface water infrastructure including bridges, dikes, and restoration projects.
- Conducting coastal geomorphic assessments and developing sustainable strategies to mitigate natural hazards and human impacts.
- Managing project timelines, budgets, and scope adjustments.
- Preparing tender documents, including drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Offering geoscience support throughout construction phases.
- Building and maintaining positive client relationships.
- Delivering innovative solutions through business development efforts.
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
- Collaborating with clients to deliver detailed design and construction support for significant water management projects.
What you will bring to WSP:
- A degree in Physical Geography or Earth Sciences (preferably a Master's or PhD with a focus on geohazards, sediment transport, and related fields).
- Registration as a Professional Geoscientist, or eligibility for immediate registration in British Columbia.
- A proven history of cultivating and enhancing client relationships.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in water resources and hydrotechnical projects.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and mentoring skills.
- Self-motivated with strategic planning capabilities and the ability to work independently.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to inspire and lead by example.
- High ethical standards and integrity.
- Proficiency in writing proposals and technical documentation.
- A commitment to technical excellence.
- Critical thinking abilities for effective problem-solving and business relationship management.
Compensation
Expected Salary: $84,300 - $116,000
The final salary for this position may vary based on factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skills, and organizational needs.
