About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Actuarial Associate to join our Retirement Consulting team at Aon Canada. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in delivering innovative and effective solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare all aspects of pension plan funding actuarial valuations, including data reconciliation, benefit calculations, asset summaries, and contribution requirements.
  • Prepare actuarial valuations for accounting purposes.
  • Prepare costings and projections.
  • Calculate benefit entitlements and prepare option packages on retirement, termination, death, and marriage breakdown.
  • Year-end update plan records, including the reconciliation of membership, contributions, and trust fund.
  • Prepare annual statements for members of a plan.
  • Assist consultants to help clients with day-to-day pension issues and questions.
  • Work with various Excel-based actuarial tools.
Requirements
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a consulting or insurance environment, preferably in a pension department.
  • Ability in mathematics and financial analysis, and demonstrated digital literacy using financial spreadsheet programs.
  • Interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
  • Must be a highly motivated, customer-service, and team-oriented individual.
  • Working with timelines and on several projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is an asset.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Commitment to professional development. Working towards completion of an ACIA or ASA designation, completion of 1 to 3 SOA exams is preferred.
