The successful candidate will be responsible for spearheading the design, development, and upkeep of high-performance mobile applications tailored for both iOS and Android platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the architectural design and implementation of scalable mobile solutions, ensuring high standards of code quality, performance, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with diverse teams, including product managers, designers, and quality assurance, to define and execute innovative strategies for mobile product direction and user experience.
- Stay informed on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance mobile development methodologies.
- Guide and mentor junior developers, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and teamwork within the mobile development group.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and contribute to the establishment of coding standards to uphold a high-quality codebase.
- Diagnose and resolve intricate technical challenges associated with mobile application development and performance.
- Work closely with product managers to comprehend business needs and translate them into technical specifications.
- Collaborate with backend engineers to seamlessly integrate mobile applications with server-side components and third-party services.
- Engage in the complete mobile application lifecycle, from initial concept and design through testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Optimize mobile applications for performance, scalability, and user-friendliness, ensuring a smooth and responsive user experience.
- Continuously assess emerging technologies and frameworks to identify potential enhancements to the mobile development process.
- Contribute to the creation of technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the engineering team.
Qualifications and Skills
- A post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience is required.
- Over 5 years of experience working in cross-functional, agile teams to deliver and support mobile applications.
- More than 5 years of experience with Android (Kotlin or Java).
- Strong understanding of mobile application architecture and design patterns, with the ability to architect scalable and maintainable mobile solutions.
- Extensive knowledge of programming languages relevant to mobile development and a solid grasp of object-oriented and functional programming concepts.
- Preferred hands-on experience in building and/or integrating mobile application RESTful API solutions.
- Experience with GraphQL, WebSocket, and version control systems like GitHub is advantageous.
- Proficient in writing unit tests and conducting automated testing.
- Strong skills in debugging and performance optimization for mobile applications.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools for automating development, testing, and deployment processes.
- Knowledge of mobile application security best practices and a strong understanding of secure coding principles and encryption techniques.
- A self-starter capable of taking concepts from inception to design and implementation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and presentation abilities.
