About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our engineering group, you will be responsible for designing and developing I&C systems for new projects and enhancements to CANDU plants and other nuclear installations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Development: Perform conceptual and detailed design of CANDU instrumentation and control systems, including definition of system functional and performance requirements and control algorithms.
  2. Component Selection and Documentation: Perform specification, sizing, and selection for various types of I&C components, and produce component-related documentation.
  3. Engineering Design Documents: Update and/or prepare I&C engineering design documents including design requirements, design description, and functional specifications.
  4. Interface with Disciplines: Provide input to the drawing office for the preparation of various I&C related engineering drawings and interface with various engineering disciplines, suppliers, and other areas of the company.
  5. Technical Support: Assist in providing responses to technical enquiries from design review teams and regulatory agencies, and provide technical support to engineering groups at site.
  6. Project Management: Manage assigned work effectively, including prioritizing, executing, managing schedule and budget, and reporting, to meet project goals.
Requirements
  1. Education: Relevant Honours degree in a relevant field of engineering from a university of recognized standing.
  2. Technical Skills: Demonstrate good technical skills and problem-solving capabilities, with familiarity with instrumentation and control system functions, configurations, and equipment.
  3. Leadership and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills as well as a strong customer focus.
  4. Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  5. Experience: A minimum of 12 years of pertinent engineering experience, with previous experience with methodologies and processes used for I&C modernization of a nuclear power plant being an asset.
  6. Certifications: Member in good standing of the Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng).
