About Our Opportunity

The Government of Nova Scotia's Operational Accounting Division has an exciting opportunity for a skilled Financial Services Officer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for receiving, registering, and depositing revenues and expenditure refunds, as well as verifying the negotiability of funds.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Receive, register, and deposit revenues and expenditure refunds in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Verify the negotiability of funds, including cheques and electronic payments.
  • Prepare daily bank deposits and issue receipts as required.
  • Prepare related financial documents and records to ensure accurate receipt and recording of revenues.
  • Reconcile accounts and prepare internal billings.
  • Apply control requirements, customer service standards, and best business practices to resolve problems and provide subject matter expertise and guidance to departments and agencies of the province.
Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you will have 5 years of related experience in a financial administration environment, or an acceptable equivalent of education, training, and related experience. A post-secondary degree with a focus in accounting or finance, or actively working towards a professional accounting designation, is considered an asset.

Proficiency in SAP Accounts Receivable or a comparable large Enterprise Resource Planning Application (ERP) is required. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to analyze and reconcile accounts and determine causes of variances. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are also essential.
