Communications Officer

Position Overview

The Mon Sheong Foundation (MSF) is a distinguished charitable organization in Canada, dedicated to serving the Greater Toronto Area since 1964. Our mission revolves around providing care for the elderly while nurturing the younger generation through various programs and services tailored to community needs.

Over the years, we have consistently launched innovative initiatives to achieve our goals. Currently, we operate four long-term care facilities, an adult day program, three campuses for Chinese education, a youth group, two centers for community and volunteer services, three independent living apartments for seniors, and both private and charity care units. Our commitment to excellence in care has earned us accreditation from CARF.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a diverse range of communication materials, including feature stories, news articles, press releases, media advisories, letters, speeches, scripts, and announcements.
  • Manage media relations by maintaining comprehensive media lists, fostering connections, and sustaining industry contacts.
  • Assist in organizing visits from dignitaries to Mon Sheong facilities and coordinating invitations for special events.
  • Translate Chinese content produced by the Development and Communications team and other departments into English.
  • Address and respond to general inquiries via email.
  • Support the planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising and marketing initiatives for the Foundation.
  • Provide administrative support to the Development & Communications department.
  • Undertake additional related tasks as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in English, communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or advertising.
  • Exceptional proficiency in both verbal and written English, with a strong background in creative and business writing.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing Chinese is an asset.
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
