CB Canada is seeking a highly skilled Senior VM Backup Administrator to provide Level 3 support in our dynamic environment.
Role Overview
- Reporting to the Director of Cloud Engineering, you will be instrumental in our data center consolidation initiative, utilizing virtual and physical machine migration strategies to transition systems to our new Private Cloud infrastructure, which incorporates various HCI solutions, VMware vRealize Suite, vSphere, vSAN, HCX, NSX-T, Cohesity, and Platespin.
- Collaborate with both technical and business experts on this large-scale, technically intricate project to ensure that migrated applications function effectively and align with business objectives.
- Be prepared for non-standard working hours for scheduled implementations or during rotational project support.
- Oversee and maintain backup and NAS solutions, assist in troubleshooting, and provide expert guidance.
- Deliver Level 3 support and manage vendor escalations for transitioned services.
- Assist in the creation of technical documentation detailing configuration and operational procedures for service operations teams, including build and runbooks, as well as technical specifications.
- Contribute to the planning of implementations.
Essential Qualifications
- Recent experience as a VM Backup Administrator.
- Over 4 years of hands-on experience with backup solutions, including Cohesity, Dell EMC Data Domain, NetBackup, and Veeam.
- At least 3 years of technical experience with storage solutions such as NetApp NAS, Dell EMC, and Hyper-Converged Virtual SAN.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with the architecture, deployment, and operational support of VMware vSphere Hypervisor.
- 3+ years of experience in Microsoft Windows Server 2012/16 administration and/or Red Hat Linux administration 7.x.
- 5+ years of experience with networking technologies and operational experience.
- Strong written, presentation, and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical peers and business stakeholders at various levels.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for close collaboration with external vendors.
- Adept at analyzing complex situations and problems, conducting thorough research to develop innovative solutions.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to manage large-scale projects efficiently.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, or a related discipline is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with VMware vRealize Suite, including vRealize Automation, vRealize Operations Manager, and vRealize Log Insight.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as VMware PowerCLI, backup automation, REST API scripting, PowerShell, and Python.
