About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hematologist to join our team at The Hospital for Sick Children. As a key member of our medical staff, you will be responsible for providing expert care to patients with blood disorders and cancers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnosis and Treatment: Conduct thorough medical examinations, diagnose diseases and physiological disorders, and develop effective treatment plans for patients.
  • Research and Development: Conduct medical research on human disorders, illnesses, and preventive or curative methods, and prepare research papers for publication and presentation.
  • Consultation and Collaboration: Act as consultants to other physicians, order laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures, and refer patients for surgery.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Provide guidance and supervision to working groups, and ensure that all medical staff are working together effectively to provide high-quality patient care.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Hold a degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or optometry, and be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Experience and Skills: Have at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, and possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Security and Safety: Be eligible for professional liability insurance, and undergo a criminal record check, Child Abuse Registry check, medical exam, and immunization records.
Work Environment

As a Hematologist at The Hospital for Sick Children, you will work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, and be required to stand for extended periods, walk, and perform repetitive tasks. You will also be expected to work under pressure and make sound judgments in high-stress situations.
