Logistics and Material Support Specialist
Position Overview:
The Logistics and Material Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing essential logistical and material assistance to the operational base. This position is vital for ensuring the smooth functioning of inventory management and support operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the receiving, issuing, shipping, and non-technical inspection of all materials, ensuring proper storage and safety protocols are followed.
- Be trained, qualified, and authorized to handle the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).
- Oversee the disposal of waste products, including petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL).
- Conduct regular stocktaking and evaluations to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Facilitate local purchasing and coordinate with approved vendors for subcontracting.
- Prepare kits for aircraft deployments and maintain minimum and maximum stock levels to support operations.
- Gather data and generate various logistical reports.
- Inspect tool cribs and toolboxes, manage ordering and replacement of tools, and ensure calibration of equipment.
- Prepare material transaction vouchers and maintain logistics documentation.
- Implement approved amendments to publications and ensure thorough record-keeping.
- Complete aircraft maintenance documentation for the electronic record-keeping system as it pertains to logistics operations.
- Participate in maintenance, ferry, and deployed operations as required.
- Be available for deployment to other operational bases and remote sites as necessary.
- Work shifts as assigned and provide on-the-job training to colleagues.
- Engage in training for professional development and certification purposes.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by removing debris and conducting foreign object debris (FOD) inspections.
- Ensure that all work areas, including hangars and offices, are kept clean and organized.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and directives.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of material control, warehousing operations, and logistics management.
- Proficiency in standard and specialized computer systems relevant to logistics operations.
- Familiarity with Electronic Record Keeping System (ERKS) procedures.
- Understanding of quality systems and compliance standards.
- Valid driver's license to operate company vehicles and tow tractors.
- Minimum education of grade 12 or equivalent, along with relevant training and experience in material control and warehousing.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics and warehousing operations is essential.
