Project Controls Specialist Job Description

BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Project Controls Specialist to join our team in Peterborough, ON.

Role Summary:

The Project Controls Specialist will be responsible for establishing and maintaining governance, procedures, tools, and best practices for the Project Management Organization (PMO). This includes creating, maintaining, enforcing, auditing, and reporting on these methods. The successful candidate will collaborate with Project Managers and be delegated responsibility for various project initiation aspects, such as scheduling, budgeting, and administrative organization.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Develop and maintain governance, procedures, tools, and best practices for the PMO
  • Audit and enforce compliance with established governance, procedures, tools, and best practices
  • Report on compliance and deviations to Project Managers and business leaders
  • Manage the effective use and administration of scheduling systems
  • Advise and support project organization during planning phases
  • Execute and support project initiation activities
  • Provide guidance on project execution and portfolio data integrity
  • Develop and maintain training materials for scheduling systems and PMO governance
  • Support Project Managers and lead continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary education in engineering, mathematics, or business
  • Mastery of scheduling practices and concepts
  • Understanding of project management fundamentals, including scheduling, earned-value management, budgeting, and change management
  • Experience with visual analytic software
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Professional competency in English
Desired Characteristics:
  • 5 years of related project controls experience
  • Experience in the nuclear energy production industry
  • Mastery of Oracle Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel
  • Project Management Professional certification

BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from diverse candidates. The base salary range for this position is $74,000.00 to $114,000.00 per year, with additional compensation and benefits available.
