Job Title: Housekeeping/Laundry Aide

Job Summary:

The Housekeeping/Laundry Aide plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and comfort of our residents. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for performing general housekeeping and laundry duties, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform general housekeeping duties, including cleaning and disinfecting of resident rooms and common areas.
  2. Assist with laundry duties, including sorting, washing, drying, and folding of resident clothing and linens.
  3. Deliver and distribute personal clothing and linens to resident rooms.
  4. Assist with waste management processes, including emptying trash and recycling bins.
  5. Participate in infection control measures, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
  6. Assist with orientation of new staff members.
  7. Participate in quality management initiatives, including home audits and resident satisfaction surveys.
  8. Attend in-service education sessions, staff meetings, and committee meetings as directed by supervisor.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Completion of grade 11 or equivalent.
  • Ability to successfully complete a reading and comprehension assessment.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping and laundry equipment and processes.
  • Basic ability to follow oral and written instructions and to communicate with residents and staff.
  • Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening that is less than six (6) months old at time of hire.
  • As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of TB testing, as per Public Health requirements.
  • A minimum of three (3) months commercial experience in a similar or related position.

Working Conditions:

This position is located in a long-term care facility, exposure to illnesses and germs are possible on a daily basis. Exposed to conditions of extreme temperatures, chemicals, bodily fluids, germs, etc. Work schedule to be determined; shifts include days, evenings, nights and weekends.
