Project Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Design Engineer to join our dynamic team at Kubo Champion. As a key member of our North American engineering team, you will play a crucial role in delivering effective greenhouse and facility designs that meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct support to our Commercial Team by engaging with clients and determining their requirements, resulting in a facility design concept that matches their needs and budget.
  • Represent the company's technical position clearly, skillfully, and effectively with world-class customers and technology partners in the global food and agriculture sector.
  • Work in close partnership with our Netherlands Home Office to develop the company's ability to deliver both designs and proposals quickly and accurately.
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures, including Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety, etc.
  • Contribute to a strong engineering organization and culture.
  • Facilitate or oversee 3rd party Professional Engineering services during the engineering and procurement phases on the clients behalf.
  • Work in coordination with Project Controls to keep project stakeholders and senior management informed on key project metrics.
Requirements:
  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an accredited recognized institution.
  • ~5 years of Design & Engineering experience in a construction or design environment.
  • ~Professional engineering (P. Eng) or eligibility (EIT) designation an asset.
  • ~Experience with indoor agricultural/greenhouse environments a definite asset.
  • Strong presence and business acumen with the ability to effectively guide the design effort and gain the confidence of clients.
  • Strong oral & written communication skills in the English language (Bilinguisme en français, un atout certain) for superior communication with customers in Canada and the USA.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to shift priorities on an ad hoc basis and flexibility with working hours.
  • Highly collaborative and flexible - Ability to build effective working relationships with others inside and outside the organization, including leadership.
