About the Role

BMO Financial Group is seeking a highly skilled Oracle DBA to join our team on a 10-month contract basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and established institution, collaborating with multiple groups within BMO to build effective skills and confidence. The successful candidate will have the chance to learn from and contribute to a global presence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform data analysis and maintenance activities to proactively address the bank's needs for data identification, classification, modeling, storage, and access.
  • Understand data in terms of its business and technical lifecycle, technical underpinnings of database theories, and various data modeling concepts in both logical and physical domains.
  • Administer and document data backup and recovery plans, capacity plans, and security plans.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot database, technical, and systems problems, and direct corrective action.
  • Identify and recommend process or system changes to avoid issues.
  • Recommend and implement solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business.
  • Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.
  • Lead detailed data design-reviews and provide feedback.
  • Perform complex technical, analytical, and professional services involving program/member services, evaluation, database-driven websites, office operations.
  • Design and implement methods to store, organize, and present data, and automate data operations.
  • Interact with key stakeholders to define, analyze, and deliver requirements that reflect the needs of both the business and end-customers.
  • Decompose business requirements and translate them into detailed data design specifications.
  • Design and implement maintenance/backup plans to keep databases in optimal conditions.
  • Design and implement security measures for databases.
  • Build data solutions that utilize enterprise monitoring/logging, and require minimal to zero maintenance.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the capability of the technology organization at BMO.
  • Stay abreast of industry technical and business trends.
Requirements
  • Database Administration: 5 years (Required)
  • Oracle: 5 years (Required)
  • SQL, MySQL: 5 years (Required)
  • Banking/Financial Industry: 5 years (Desired)
