Operations Assistant Manager

Job Summary
This entry-level management position focuses on supporting the day-to-day activities of Rooms Operations and supervising related areas such as Housekeeping, Recreation, Laundry, Staff, AYS, and Concierge/Guest Services. The successful candidate will direct and work with employees to ensure guest procedures and property cleanliness standards are met. They will also ensure guest and employee satisfaction and achieve operating budget goals.
Candidate Profile
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with 4 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or a related area.
A 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major is also acceptable, with 2 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or a related area.
Core Work Activities
Supporting Management of Rooms Operations Activities
The Operations Assistant Manager will be responsible for opening and closing Front Desk shifts/Housekeeping, ensuring completion of assigned checklists and duties.
They will also run and review critical information in room operations reports, temporarily supervise Room Operations department in absence of management, operate department equipment, ensure supplies and uniforms, and understand night audit procedures.
Additionally, they will comply with loss prevention policies and procedures.
Contributing Information to Support Managing to Budget
The Operations Assistant Manager will supervise selling procedures, verify room rates, and use budgets and operating statements for Room Operations.
They will also manage departmental expenses to meet budget goals and understand the impact on property financial goals.
Providing for and Managing the Guest Experience
The Operations Assistant Manager will participate in the investigation of accidents, use a guest tracking system, set an example for guest relations, and interact with guests for feedback.
They will review guest satisfaction results, handle guest problems and complaints, and assist in service improvement.
Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities
The Operations Assistant Manager will support operational functions, train staff, and monitor policies and procedures adherence.
They will participate in department meetings, supervise staffing levels, train employees in safety and emergency procedures, observe service behaviors, provide feedback, coach/counsel employees, and handle disciplinary procedures.
They will also recognize employee performance, schedule employees, and assist in performing payroll functions.
Ensuring compliance with policies, standards, and procedures is also a key responsibility.
The salary range for this position is $51,000 to $63,000 annually.
